About the course

Get found, sell, get paid and deliver online, one planned step at a time.

For businesses that are already trading. You check how digital the business is today, then work through being found online, WhatsApp Business and social media, whether you need a website, digital marketing, photos and your brand, selling through a catalogue, a marketplace or your own web store, taking payments safely, stopping fraud, delivery, the rules that build trust, and digital tools for records and stock. You set things up for your own business as you go, and leave with a dated Digitalisation Plan. Adapted for Zimbabwean conditions from the International Labour Organization’s Digitalise Your Business guide, the ILO’s addition to its Improve Your Business series, and like the other Improve Your Business modules it can be taken on its own.

Who it is for

• Owners and managers of businesses that have traded for at least a year and want more of their sales online
• Staff sent by their employer to run the business’s social media, WhatsApp or online orders: the plan is agreed with the employer, and the certificate carries the business name
• Members whose Action Plan includes the Marketing Strategy or Accounting Systems sections

What you will do

About 13 hours in all: roughly 6 on screen and 7 setting things up for your own business. Most learners finish within two to three weeks.

1. Welcome (30 minutes). Why going digital is a series of planned steps, and a picture of your business and its tools today.
2. Digital business: where are you now? (1.25 hours). Digitisation, digitalisation and digital transformation, and how digital your business is today.
3. Be seen: social media and messengers (2 hours). Being found, the right platforms, WhatsApp Business, saved answers and a campaign plan.
4. Your own address: website, domain and hosting (1.75 hours). Whether you need a website now, claiming your name, and the real cost over three years.
5. Digital marketing, photos and your brand (1.75 hours). Adverts and content that sell, product photos, and a simple brand.
6. Sell online (2 hours). WhatsApp and social media, marketplaces or your own web store, and the sales funnel.
7. Get paid, deliver and earn trust (2 hours). Payments, fees in your prices, fraud, packing and delivery, and your shop rules.
8. Digital tools to run the business (1 hour). Records, stock and security, and the stages of digital maturity.
9. Your Digitalisation Plan (45 minutes). Check your digital practices, write a dated action plan, and send it for review.

What you leave with

• Your Digitalisation Plan: where the business stands, a campaign plan, your website and domain decision, a digital presence plan, your online sales channels, payment and delivery set-up, shop rules, a digital tools plan and a dated action plan
• Things already set up for your business during the course, such as your WhatsApp Business profile, catalogue and saved answers
• The SMEAZ Digitalise workbook (Excel): website costs over three years, online prices with fees, your sales funnel and a stock list
• A Certificate of Completion when your plan is approved, and a Certificate of Competence once you have put it to work

How the self-paced course works

• Work on your phone or computer, in short sessions. Your answers are saved as you go.
• Every exercise is about your own business, not a textbook case.
• An AI coach comments on your key answers and asks the questions a consultant would ask.
• A SMEAZ consultant reviews your finished work and replies with comments.
• Your certificate carries a number and a QR code that anyone can check on our website.
