The SME Association of Zimbabwe is a not-for-profit body, owned by its members, who are entrepreneurs. It was formed out of the realisation that there was a gap in terms of the representation and support of professional small and medium enterprises that want to grow and become large corporations. The Association achieves its goal of SME development through providing core support services, some of which are outlined below.
Accessing markets is the biggest challenge that SMEs are facing at the moment. Marketing costs are also exorbitant, leaving many of us at the mercy of middlemen and powerful large organisations that sometimes dictate unviable prices. Our Business Directory with over 700 SMEs registered and recently-launched SME Mega Mall enable you to sell your products 24/7 to our members and the public. Both of these feature a "review and rating" function which enables your customers to rate your service. If you're good at what you do, we'll ensure everyone knows and buys from you. We also have a range of low-cost, high impact advertising packages available to boost your selling efforts even further.
Practical application, effectiveness and relevance to the Zimbabwean situation are the primary factors that the Association bears in mind when coming up with its seminars and training programs. Training & development is a central feature of our SME growth strategy.
Creating a conducive environment for SME formation and growth is one of the key functions for which the SME Association of Zimbabwe was set up. Growth in any modern economy can only result from a vibrant SME sector, and that in turn requires deliberate action and policies to drive it.
